  1. detailed information

In March, 2013, CENELEC officially released the safety standard EN 62133: 2013 version for batteries. This standard is mainly aimed at the safety requirements of single battery and battery pack containing alkaline or non acid electrolyte and portable sealed single battery and battery pack. The new standard will replace the first version of en62133: 2003 published in 2003. At the same time, CENELEC also designated the expiration date of the old version of EN 62133 standard. According to the requirements, en 62133: 2003 version will be officially revoked on January 10, 2016. Micro test reminds major battery manufacturers and battery product manufacturers to import the new version of EN 62133: 2013 as soon as possible, so as to avoid the impact on the export of battery products to Europe in the future.

Electrical products entering the EU (such as mobile phones, tablets, electric toys, electric tools, etc.) need to meet the requirements of the EU new method directive and affix the CE mark. As the accessories of many end products (such as mobile phones, electric toys, tablet computers, etc.), the safety of batteries needs to be considered in combination with these end products. Therefore, many end product customers, out of consideration for the safety of their own products, require their parts to also be labeled with CE marks, so that their products can better meet the requirements of relevant directives.

Therefore, if the battery products of export enterprises can meet the requirements of EN62133 standard and affix CE mark, the competitiveness of their products in the market will be enhanced and a larger market will be won for enterprises.
